Defenses / for Gem Purchasing
re: all gems
re: diamond purchases
re: Blue & Pink diamonds
( or any Fancy Color diamonds excep yellow )
You need to avoid
TREATED diamonds
in particular, what is called “HPHT” treated
Now, the GIA will note “HPHT” on its certificate
So, you want to
a) see the ORIGINAL plasticized GIA certificate
( which cannot be PhotoShopped & altetered)
plus
B) you will want to arrange a facsimile copy of the GIA certificate
direct from the GIA
prior to putting-down funds
Here is the procedure:

re: Fluorescence:
If D, E color
then on the GIA Lab Report
re: line item: Fluorescence
you want to see NONE
re: diamonds at or above a WHOLE SIZE
like
2 carats
3 carats
etc.
GOOD to be at least 2 points over a WHOLE size
but
REALLY BEST to even be 1% over a WHOLE size
so…
2.02+
3.03+
4.04+
etc.
WHY?
If the stone gets a small chip from Wear & Tear,
it may need to be polished-up a bit
and this polishing may cost us a point or two
THUS,
we want BUFFER
so, we still maintain “the size”
2.00+ and not, say
1.99
